A Day Together - 03/10/12

We had the pleasure of spending most of Saturday with Eva!

Yes that IS hair!  Daphne puts it up in these twin ponytails:

And I don't know if you can pick it out...but do you see the one lone curl at her neckline?
Can't you just see the potential?  And this picture really picks up the red tones she got from her Mama!

We had a project at church, but we stopped at Starbucks for breakfast.  She fed herself banana:

Then she shared her banana with Grandpa:

She pushed the stroller around the fellowship hall for literally hours.
But we had lots of fun with the barrel:

Playing peek a boo was TOO much fun:

The best part of the day was just feeling the depth and importance of our relationship with her.
She is precious beyond words.
And when she spontaneously offered an adoring Grandpa an unsolicited kiss...
there were aww's and tears:

Crazy love with this girl!  What a privilege to be her Grandparents.  We love you Little Missy!  J.

A Fun New Game

Last night Daphne, Eva and I were chilling in the living room...and let me back up...she has learned to walk this week...she can very adorably, waver her way across the living room now, and Little Miss is quite proud of herself...as are we all.  So...back to last night...we were sitting there and Eva was standing in front of the chair that my Mattie was very nicely laying in.  When all of a sudden Mattie reached right out and bit Eva.  I leapt up and shouted "NO MATTIE!!!"  Well of course the bite, and then the shout startled Eva and she began to sob...and I mean REALLY sob...with big tears and sucking of air and the whole thing.  This Grandma felt terrible!  I scooped her up and tried to console her...I thought she wanted her Mom, but then she wanted me after all.  So I was just loving on her apologizing up one side and down the other.  Poor little thing!  And this is when we discovered the new game.  She LOVES to look at pictures on a cell phone.  So I got mine out and that immediately distracted her.

My phone has this cool camera setting where you can take the picture the normal way or you can turn the camera toward you so that you can see yourself...this helps with the arm's length pictures.  This was our first attempt:
I had a bit of trouble keeping her from grabbing the phone thus the blur.  And it was dark in the room so the picture quality is bad...But it did interest her.  The rest is what followed.

Can you see the tears? :(

She began to laugh every single time.

The more animated I got the more fun it was!
We included Mommy...

Now what was she crying about???  J.

Impulsive Decisions

Last week I went to the my hair stylist to get a hot oil treatment.  The appointment had been scheduled for 6 weeks, but on the day, I decided to get my hair cut instead.  Impulsively I had her cut it all off.  I don't regret having done it.  If I were being completely honest I would say that I may have gone a little too far...but that said I like it a lot.  Timothy really, REALLY likes it...and that makes me very happy.

P.S.  Look at that girl's smile!  Too cute!

Booboo lip

A while back I mentioned that Eva had the cutest little booboo lip.  I finally captured it in photo.  It's blurry, but totally still a cute picture.  It's so hard not to laugh when she's so cute.  J.

Eva - More Interactive

My sweet Eva has become much more interactive.  I love the way she looks at people:
Here she's playing with her Daddy:
I love to see Peter with her.  He's a good Daddy:
Her favorite Daddy trick is Airplane...she enjoys flying high:

She LOVES her Auntie Hannah:
Check out this video:

We had the privilege of babysitting last night!  So much fun!
Her eyes sparkle when she is talking to her Grandpa:

Her skin is so soft and feels so good against mine:
She was sound asleep until Timothy sneezed and she woke up screaming in fright.
Looking sleepy here but how cute is her bib?  "Grandma's biggest joy"  So true, so true:

Finally out:

Snuggled in together cherishing each precious moment, breathing in her scent, so grateful!

Even Mattie had to get in on the baby love:
What an incredible time this is.
We are paying attention, and tucking every look, every sound away to be taken out later..

I thought I would throw in a bonus video because I can't get over how cute she is.  Enjoy  J.:

Yesterday she SMILED at me!  :)  While this normally happens at about 1 month...my Eva is above average ;)  and smiled at me several times....PURE BLISS!!!!

Such fun!  Tears of joy streamed down my face as Eva's smiles erupted.  What an absolute joy!  J.

The Perfect Storm

When you hear the phrase "the perfect storm" it usually means all factors come together in just the right way to create a massive and powerful storm.

This is how it is in my life right now.  Everything is coming together to cause the perfect storm within me emotionally.  Anything and everything reduces me to a red-eyed, wet-cheeked mess.

The factors?

Eva Lynn will be born in the next 2 weeks.  Every text, or phone call brings her to mind.  I think of her day and night.  Thoughts of sweaters, and dresses I want to make, purchases of carseats and strollers, even looking through the baby clothes at Costco last night...it all brings me to my knees with tears in my eyes.  Envisioning the day of her birth, and seeing Peter and Daphne holding their daughter...lump in throat as I write those words.  Joy and blessings!

Seeing piled fall leaves, walking through them and kicking them into the air.  Their smell and vibrant colors.

The holidays are here.  Our first Christmas gifts are purchased, and made.  We are making plans for implementing our traditions.  The smell of cinnamon.  I'm SO looking forward to the day after Thanksgiving as we spend the day in Seattle starting with the Christmas parade, and ending with the tree lighting in Westlake Center and every blessed minute of laughter, good food, and just being with the people we love.  Or the next day when we get our Christmas tree and have our Christmas tree decorating party.  Each ornament pointing to our Savior, each cup filled with sparkling or spiced cider, each tummy filled with Buckeyes, cheese ball, and meatballs, each heart overwhelmed with warmth and joy.  Anticipation of such joyous times together as a family...send me over.

Timothy and I are going to Las Vegas(the trip I won), for our 24th anniversary in early December.  We SO enjoyed our trip to the island, and we are really looking forward to our time in Vegas.

And difficult things too:
My heart aches for those in our lives who want the simplest things that so many take for granted.  They struggle, and are working with external issues that are out of their control.  They pay great amounts of money to experts to try to figure out the answers...and wait, their hearts breaking daily with the lack of forward progress, yet desperately trying not to lose hope or faith.

Frustrations that range from wasted food and overly full garbage cans to wasted time and overly full calendars.  Time and all that it could be versus all that it is currently.  Unmet goals, and longings.

Oh and did I mention menopause...enough said.

These beautiful, difficult, wonderful, sad things, and so many more have come together to make the perfect storm for this Mama/Wife/Grandmama/Daughter/Employee/Friend.  This storm spills over with tears of joy, sadness, anticipation, hope, frustration, longings, love, and so on.   J.
